Our Environmental & Ethical Business Ethos...

...extends not only to our friends in developing countries, but to everyone who we deal with. Whether you are a customer on our web shop, a community group requesting environmental advice or a possible supplier - we aim to treat everyone in a fair and ethical manner.

Any new products we stock in our ethical range must comply with our ethical product buying policy. Suppliers of goods from our ethical range of products guarantee that workers are paid a fair wage - relative to local living costs. Our suppliers are against child & forced labour.

As a very small private but very social enterprise  we are not affiliated with any large umbrella 'fair' or 'ethical trade'  organisations - we couldn't afford the membership rates!

What we aim to do is to practice our ethical and environmental business ethos in all aspects of our business; whether with suppliers in developing countries, or our retail or corporate customers within the UK.

cleanercities.co.uk is an environmentally friendly enterprise so we aren't a big fan of unnecessary air transport and its associated carbon emissions. This means that we can't justify flying all over the world  - it would be hypocritical. This presents us with several challenges, which we are currently working on and will update the progress in due course.

The profits raised from the sale of our products fund our environmental advice service - aimed specifically at community and voluntary groups.

As a predominately web based business we are not bound by geographical limitations and as a consequence received requests for advice from all over the world - and have adopted the policy 'if we can help or advise in any way - we will!'

It is our ultimate aim to develop long term business partnerships with other small scale suppliers who share our environmental and ethical business ethos. We have supported community/voluntary groups and suppliers from countries including the UK, Guatemala, India & Nepal.

There is little point of selling ethical products and using the profits in an unethical manner - this is why we use profits to fund the cleanercities.co.uk environmental & ecological advice service. At present, due to limited resources we are only able to operate a web based environmental advice service. Although we are a private enterprise - we do not operate for individual profits and exist to support communities who wish to make positive environmental improvements in their local neighbourhoods.

We choose not to apply for charity status and maintain our position as private enterprise as we prefer to deal with people, not paperwork & bureaucracy!
